Exhibition opens next Friday 14 December 2012 featuring works by contemporary artists based in Newcastle
many of whom are represented in both national and private collections. Not to be missed!
Madeleine Kelman 11 is a pop up gallery established in 2012 by Madeleine K. Snow. The idea to establish a gallery for contemporary fine artists based in Newcastle emerged following the closure of the John Miller Galleries, with Kelman Snow’s connections through the Newcastle Art School and passion for art. Her background is in museum education having worked at the AGNSW, regional galleries to Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and she currently teaches Art History at the Newcastle Art School Hunter TAFE. (Kelman Snow also follows in the footsteps of other more well known Directors such as Liz Ann MacGregor MCA or Ron Ramsay Newcastle Art Gallery who also came from a background in museum education.)
With the initial support of artists Michelle Brodie, Jesse Neale and Gordon Snow, she established the Madeleine Kelman 11 pop up gallery in February 2012 and held the inaugural exhibition in Clovelly Sydney. Made in Newcastle is Madeleine K. Snow’s second exhibition and includes the work of celebrated Newcastle artists Nicola Hensel, Claire Martin, Mazie Turner, Michelle Brodie and rising stars Gordon Snow, Debra Byrnes and Jesse Neale. Made in Newcastle is currently running at POD Space 401 Hunter st Newcastle from 12-22 December 2012.
